USAID has handed over 105 generators worth $2.7 million to Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways).
This is reported by the Ministry for Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine.
The equipment is planned to be installed at key stations on the main routes for passenger and freight trains. It is expected that the donated generators will provide backup power supply for more than 100,000 consumers and will contribute to the uninterrupted transportation of passengers and goods within Ukraine.
"USAID and Ukrzaliznytsia will continue to cooperate in order to meet the needs of the Ukrainian railway for the stable operation of critical infrastructure facilities, provide power supply for distribution systems and stations, and ensure the safety of rail transport," the statement says.
Background. Mind previously reported that Kyivteploenergo had received 137 generators from USAID. Their power ranges from 7 to 100 kW, and the total cost is about 40 million UAH.
