In the United States, the first state banned TikTok
The purpose of the ban is to protect the personal data of Americans "from the Communist Party of China"

Montana has become the first US state to ban the TikTok app. The state's governor, Greg Gianforte, the first Republican to hold this position in 16 years, signed the law.
"To protect the personal data of Montanans from the Communist Party of China, I have banned TikTok in Montana," he wrote on Twitter.
The ban is set to take effect on January 1, 2024. As Reuters emphasizes, it will prohibit Google and Apple app stores from providing the TikTok app for download in Montana.
At the same time, no sanctions are envisaged for those who continue to use the application.
According to Reuters, when the law comes into force, Montana will almost certainly face legal problems.
TikTok did not respond to the publication's question about whether they plan to file a lawsuit against the Montana authorities.
Earlier, TikTok representatives said that the law being prepared "violates the rights of Montanans". The Chinese company will "continue to work to protect the rights of users inside and outside the state."
U.S. officials have repeatedly called for TikTok to be banned in the United States. They fear that it may be collaborating with the Chinese authorities. In December 2022, the U.S. Senate approved a bill that would prohibit officials from using the app on government-owned devices. TikTok itself denies all accusations of collaboration with the Chinese Communist Party.
