Ukraine denies any involvement in the attack on Russian territory, but one Ukrainian military official acknowledged "collaboration" with nationalist groups that entered Russian territory on Monday to liberate one of the settlements, the FT reports.
The leader of the "Russian Volunteer Corps" (RDK), Denys Nikitin, one of the Russian nationalist military organizations that took responsibility for sabotage in the Belgorod region, told the publication that the attack aircraft had arrived on US equipment.
According to him, these are two M1224 MaxxPro armored personnel carriers and several Humvee army cargo vans, but Nikitin did not reveal how the RDK got the equipment.
On Tuesday, the Russian Ministry of Defense posted photos of allegedly abandoned American equipment. The FT verified the photos and found that not all of the images were taken in Russia.
The office of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, refused to comment on the invasion of the Belgorod region using American equipment.
Background. As previously reported, Russian volunteers are conducting an operation on the territory of the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation.
