Elon Musk's company, Neuralink, has announced that it has received FDA approval to research brain implants in humans
The company has not elaborated on the research objectives, noting only that participant recruitment has not yet begun and more detailed information will be available in due course

Elon Musk's brain implant production company Neuralink has announced that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has given the green light to the first clinical trial in humans, marking a significant milestone following previous attempts to gain approval.
This news was reported by Reuters.
FDA approval "is an important first step that will one day allow our technology to help many people," Neuralink tweeted.
Musk believes that brain implants could cure a range of diseases, including obesity, autism, depression, and schizophrenia, as well as enabling web browsing and telepathy.
At least four times since 2019, Musk predicted that Neuralink would begin human trials. However, the company only submitted its FDA approval application in early 2022, and it was rejected by the agency.
