Expert Mykola Kovzel on how resilient logistics helped preserve jobs in Ukraine
Export, import and internal production processes are impossible without the professionalism of logistic workers
Ukrainian businesses continue operating even in difficult conditions thanks to the people who ensure the daily movement of goods. Logistics expert Mykola Kovzel notes that drivers, freight forwarders, and logistics specialists form the essential backbone without which no production or trade sector can remain stable.
Mykola Kovzel emphasizes that today’s logistics work differs greatly from the pre-war and pre-crisis years. Routes change, timelines depend on external factors, and decisions often have to be made “on the go.” He reminds that “situations where a route must be adjusted during transportation have become common,” and it is drivers who must adapt to these conditions every day.
In his blog, the expert describes in detail how crucial the role of the freight forwarder is. They coordinate all stages of delivery – from planning to risk management. According to Mykola Kovzel, “the freight forwarder is a key link in ensuring continuity for Ukrainian businesses,” and it is at this level that the predictability and quality of logistics processes are shaped.

At the same time, he stresses that no scheme or route will work without the professionalism of the driver. It is the driver who determines whether the goods will be delivered on time, whether the company can fulfill its contract, and whether it can maintain its market position. He notes that modern transportation is complex work that requires experience, responsibility, and fast decision-making.
Mykola Kovzel also highlights structural needs in the sector: infrastructure renewal, transport modernization, and professional training. He emphasizes that “logistics is becoming increasingly complex, and the quality of the freight forwarder’s, driver’s, or logistics specialist’s work directly depends on their level of training” – which in turn determines how resilient Ukraine’s economy will be.
The role of logistics workers often goes unnoticed, yet it is they who ensure that the country functions during periods of instability. Their daily work enables exports, imports, and internal production processes to continue.
