The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) adds that the enemy had withdrawn part of the personnel to pre-prepared positions prior to the attack, but some occupation units on the left bank of the Dnieper were not aware of the demolition of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Station.
As explained by the spokesperson of the DIU, Andriy Yusov, the russian military command did not inform everyone about the dam demolition in order to prevent the leakage of information. Furthermore, this could have also motivated the occupiers to refuse to carry out tasks.

It is noted that in the units of the 7th Airborne Assault Division and the 22nd Army Corps of the russian federation Armed Forces, there are injured, deceased, and missing in action. They also lost several field depots of ammunition and provisions, automobiles, armoured vehicles and more.
Meanwhile, on the day of the dam demolition, there was a mass evacuation of Kakhovka residents in their own cars. Along with civilian evacuation routes, the occupiers used the Ukrainians as a human shield.
