The Group of Seven countries are developing a scientific way to combat the theft of Ukrainian grain by russia and its sale under the guise of russian grain.
As explained by British Minister of State for Food, Farming and Fisheries Mark Spencer, the origin of the grain can be established by chemical identification, the BBC reports.
According to the official, the G7 countries agree that this method, if widely used, will be effective against further theft of grain grown in Ukraine.
Spencer made the statement at the International Grains Council (IGC) conference in London, adding that the UK is taking the lead in this program in cooperation with the rest of the G7 and Ukraine.
In May, the United Kingdom announced a new wave of sanctions against russia over its aggression in Ukraine, targeting "dubious individuals and organizations" suspected of stealing Ukrainian grain.
