Germany will provide Ukraine with 100 more Leopard 1 tanks by the end of the year - Defense Minister
This will help replace those tanks that were destroyed or damaged on the battlefield

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that Germany plans to increase the supply of refurbished Leopard 1 tanks for Ukraine's needs. This is how he reacted to reports of destroyed or damaged Leopard 2 tanks in Ukraine.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine.
"We will not be able to replace every tank that is currently out of service. But what we are doing... we will continue to supply more refurbished Leopard 1 A5 tanks from July onwards. And by the end of the year, there will be more than 100 of them," he told RTL Direkt.
The Defense Minister added that the nature of war is that people die and weapons are destroyed. That is why support for Ukraine is so important.
It is noted that the other day the Russians boasted about the alleged destruction of eight Leopard tanks in Ukraine. They even published a video to confirm this, but it turned out that the occupiers were boasting about the destruction of combine harvesters, not tanks.
Background. As reported, at the end of May, Ukraine's Ambassador to Germany Oleksiy Makeyev announced the shipment of more than 100 Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine.
Earlier in February, the German government confirmed the decision to sell 88 Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine. In total, Germany, Denmark, and the Netherlands have agreed to send more than 100 Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine by spring 2024, but this year Ukraine will receive only 20-25 of these older tanks.
