IAEA Head Arrives at ZNPP – Energoatom
Visit was postponed yesterday due to security considerations

Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), has begun a visit to the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP).
This was reported by the National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom.
Recall that Grossi's visit to the ZNPP was postponed on 14 June due to safety considerations.
Background. Earlier, Mind reported that the IAEA mission, led by Grossi, had been travelling to Ukraine in an attempt to gain access to the occupied ZNPP.
He intends to assess the situation at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and to rotate the agency's experts at the plant.
The destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station dam potentially threatens the safety of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, as the water from the reservoir, which is now drastically decreasing, was used to cool the reactors.
Grossi intends to examine the water situation on the ground: specifically, the IAEA wants to gain access to the thermal power station near the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
It is important for the IAEA to get there, as measurements of this thermal power station show a higher water level than in other areas of the Kakhovka reservoir. And if the water level falls below a certain mark, the pumps that take water for the nuclear power plant will stop working.
However, the IAEA now reports that the current water reserves near the ZNPP will be sufficient for several months of cooling.
