The russian government has denied the UN access to the left bank of the Dnieper River in Kherson Oblast, which has been flooded due to the occupiers sabotage of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Station.
This is stated in a declaration by the Humanitarian Coordinator in Ukraine, Denise Brown.
"The UN will continue to work towards obtaining the necessary access. We call on the russian authorities to act in accordance with their obligations under international humanitarian law. One cannot deny aid to those who need it," stated the coordinator.
In addition to this, Brown emphasised, the UN will do everything possible to reach all people urgently requiring vital aid, particularly those affected by the recent destruction of the dam.
Background. In Kherson Oblast, 23 populated areas are still flooded due to the undermining of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Station. 17 of them are located on the left bank of the Dnieper.
