Sanctioned russian company purchased hundreds of thousands of American Hornady cartridges – media
The purchased cartridges were found in Orsis T-5000 rifles, produced by a russian firm
338 Lapua Magnum cartridges, produced by the American company Hornady, were delivered to the moscow company Promtechnology bypassing sanctions.
This is reported by Politico.
The purchased cartridges were discovered in Orsis T-5000 rifles, manufactured by a russian firm.
These cartridges are used, among others, by mercenaries of the Wagner Group, who are fighting against Ukraine.
Promtechnology declared the import of 102,000 Hornady-produced cartridges, and in total declared the import of 460,000 "hunting ammunition".
The obtained data add to an increasing amount of evidence that despite sanctions, lethal and non-lethal military equipment is still making its way into russia. Defence experts suggest that the war has exposed a lack of capability within russia to produce high-quality sniper cartridges, promoting a flourishing black market of Western ammunition.
In this regard, Hornady's CEO Steve Hornady assured that his company does not trade with russia.
"We emphatically DO NOT export anything to russia and since 2014 have had no permission to export to russia. We do not support any sale of our product to any current russian entity, and if we find out how they bought it, if they really did buy it, we will do everything possible to stop it," he stated.
