Zelensky signs law banning the import and distribution of books from russia and Belarus

Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a law prohibiting the import and distribution of books from russia and Belarus.
This was announced on the President's Telegram channel.
The document bans the import and distribution of publishing products from russia and Belarus, and also envisages the publishing of books in Ukraine in the language of the original or translated into Ukrainian, EU languages or the languages of the indigenous peoples of Ukraine. Additionally, the law blocks the possibility of importing publications of anti-Ukrainian content.
Zelensky stressed that the text of the document was sent to EU institutions. They are to evaluate whether the law does not violate the protection of minority rights in the context of European integration.
Background. Earlier, Mind reported that Ukraine had only fulfilled two out of seven conditions necessary for the EU accession procedure. The two fulfilled conditions mentioned relate to judicial reform and the law on the media.
