UN confirms that Russian troops carried out extrajudicial executions in the occupied territories
The organization has recorded more than 70 executions of civilians, although there may be many more

Since the beginning of the war, Russia has carried out extrajudicial executions of more than 70 civilians among those held in custody in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
Source. This is stated in a UN report published on Tuesday titled "Detention of civilians in the context of the armed attack of the Russian Federation on Ukraine".
The study covers the period from February 24, 2022 to May 23, 2023.
In total, during this period, the UN monitoring mission managed to confirm the arbitrary detention of more than 800 people.
"We have documented the executions of 77 civilians who were arbitrarily detained by the Russian Federation," said Matilda Bogner, Head of the UN Human Rights Mission in Ukraine, at a briefing in Geneva.
According to the authors of the report, these are 72 men and five women. According to the report, at least one more detainee died "as a result of torture, inhumane conditions of detention and/or denial of necessary medical care."
The report also states that Ukraine has also violated international law by arbitrarily detaining civilians, but on a much smaller scale.
Background. As reported, the UN confirmed in its report that Russia killed at least 136 children in Ukraine and injured 518.
