Only US companies paid a higher amount of tax to russia

Firms from Germany contributed more money to the russian budget last year than companies from any other EU country.
This is reported by Bild.
Before the russian invasion, there were 371 German companies operating in russia. Now there are fewer of them, but the number is still significant: 262 German companies are currently doing their business in russia.
In 2022, they paid $402 million in taxes to the russian budget. This is a record figure among all EU countries – only companies from the United States paid a larger amount in tax deductions.
Background. It has also recently become known that Finnish companies have traded with russia for at least €1.5 billion since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine.
Some of these funds were transferred to the accounts of companies whose owners are under sanctions and are members of russian President putin's inner circle.
