Interfax-Ukraine reports that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has contradicted Kuleba's statement, allegedly discussions are still ongoing. According to him, it's too early to comment on the specific phrasing that will be outlined in the document.
"No final decision has been made yet. But at the summit, and I'm absolutely confident about this, we will have unity and a strong message for Ukraine," emphasises Stoltenberg.
NATO has reached a consensus on removing the Membership Action Plan from Ukraine's path to joining the Alliance.
This was announced by Dmytro Kuleba, Foreign Minister of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian representative stressed that the relevant decision, which allies had reached after intense negotiations, shortened Ukraine's path to NATO.
"I welcome this long-awaited decision that shortens our path to NATO. It is also the best moment to offer clarity on the invitation to Ukraine to become a member," Kuleba commented.
Background. Mind previously reported that Germany would insist on postponing Ukraine's admission to NATO, as it feared war with russia. The country will call for a focus on security guarantees for Ukraine, rather than proposals for membership.
