Erdogan: Turkey made efforts to save grain deal until the last moment
British Foreign Office says russia is using grain deal as a weapon

The British Foreign Office has said that russia must reaffirm its commitment to the full implementation of the grain deal.
The British Foreign Office accused the kremlin of obstructing the supply of grain to those consumers who need it most and of using food as a weapon by unilaterally canceling the agreement.
"the UK condemns russia's blatant attempt to harm the most vulnerable as part of its illegal war. russia must reinstate the BSGI [Black sea grain initiative] and commit to its full implementation," a foreign office spokesman said.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen condemned russia's decision to suspend the grain deal, calling it a cynical step taken by moscow despite the efforts of the UN and Turkey.
"The EU will continue to export agricultural products from Ukraine to world markets via the 'solidarity routes'," she tweeted, adding that the EU is working to ensure food security for vulnerable populations.
Earlier today, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the grain deal involving Ukraine, russia, Turkey and the UN went down in history as an important diplomatic success. According to him, Turkey made efforts to save the grain deal until the last moment.
The Turkish leader said this immediately after moscow informed the other parties to the agreement of its unwillingness to continue it.
According to him, the Turkish Foreign Minister will discuss the deal with his russian counterpart Lavrov. Erdogan himself said he would talk to putin about the fate of the grain deal.
Background. To recap, Zelensky said that there were no direct agreements between Ukraine and russia on the grain corridor.
