Hungary has objected to the creation by the European Union of a long-term fund to support the Ukrainian army amounting to €20 billion. The country emphasises that it will oppose the creation of the fund until Ukraine removes the Hungarian bank OTP from the "war sponsors" list.
This was reported by Politico, citing Péter Szijjártó, Head of Hungary's Foreign Ministry.
"We cannot negotiate new financial commitments for the European Peace Fund until the OTP issue is resolved," said Szijjártó.
It is noted that the EU allocated about €4 billion for the fund after russia's invasion of Ukraine. Meanwhile, in Brussels, they want to create a stable source of money to avoid complex discussions about replenishing the fund.
