Ukraine's Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov has said that a report on how effectively the Ukrainian Armed Forces are using cluster munitions supplied by the United States will be handed over to the Pentagon on Monday or Tuesday this week.

"I hope that these munitions will be more effective than conventional ones," Reznikov said.
John Kirby, spokesman for the National Security Council in the US administration, said last week that Ukraine had received American cluster munitions and started using them on the battlefield. According to Kirby, the Ukrainians are using this ammunition effectively and properly, which has already yielded some results.
Reznikov did not give details before the report is released, but said that he expects cluster munitions to show the greatest effectiveness "especially against artillery systems, in particular in counter-battery combat, as well as in the fight against enemy APCs, BMPs, and they will be good."
According to the Ukrainian minister, Ukraine has pledged to provide the Pentagon with such a report as part of the agreement to supply it with cluster munitions.
The United States has previously stated that the transfer of such shells to Ukraine, which are prohibited by an international convention (however, neither the United States, Ukraine, nor Russia are signatories to it), is a temporary measure caused by the depletion of stocks of standard 155-mm artillery shells.
