"After September 15, Ukrainian grain will not enter Poland": the country will extend the ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products

Polish Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Robert Telus assured the Sejm that the ban on imports of Ukrainian grain to Poland would be extended after September 15.

Source. It was reported by polskieradio.pl.

"Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Vice Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski have clearly stated that after September 15, Ukrainian grain will not enter Poland. We will protect Polish agriculture," Telus said.

In mid-September, the ban on imports of wheat, corn, sunflower seeds and rapeseed from Ukraine to Poland, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania, and Hungary is to be lifted.

The five countries neighboring Ukraine are in favor of extending the ban at least until the end of the year.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that Poland would maintain the ban even without the consent of the European Commission.

As reported, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal considers Poland's intention to continue blocking Ukrainian grain exports in the face of russian aggression an "unfriendly and populist step" that "will greatly affect global food security and Ukraine's economy."

He called on the European Commission to ensure unimpeded exports of Ukrainian food to the EU.

First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Trade Yulia Svyrydenko, in turn, admitted that Ukraine could introduce mirror measures against some goods from Poland.

Background. As a reminder, Zelensky called on Eastern European countries to lift the ban on the transportation of Ukrainian grain by land. The restrictions were introduced in May in five countries – Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia.
