Zelensky: russia will be left without ships if it continues to attack Ukrainian ports
He warned that Ukraine would respond to russian attacks on civilians and 'grain corridors'

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the latest strikes on russian ships. According to him, if russia continues its aggression at sea, the country may be left without its navy by the end of the war.

The Head of State emphasised that after russia's withdrawal from the grain deal, the aggressor country blocked the Black Sea and began shelling Ukrainian ports, preventing either maritime transport or ships with grain from passing through. According to him, Ukraine must now end this blockade.
"Ukraine must prove that we have the right to import and export products in our territorial waters. If russia continues to dominate the Black Sea and block our waters, firing missiles at ports, Ukraine will do the same, which is a fair defence of our capabilities," he said.
Zelensky pointed out that if russians continued to fire at Ukraine's ports, they might be left without ships by the end of the war. He also noted that the situation for the russian Navy was not the best at the moment.
"In the game of chess, this is called a stalemate, so since russia is not able to win, they are trying to put us in a difficult situation. Ukraine will definitely respond to any attack on our civilians, on our grain brokers," the head of state stressed.
In conclusion, Zelensky said that the Ukrainian side wanted to show that the russian army was not able to influence the situation in the Black Sea and to establish its control there.
As reported, after a series of strikes on Ukrainian port infrastructure, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked two important occupiers' ships – the SIG oil tanker, which was transporting fuel to Syria, and the Olenegorskiy Gorniak landing ship.
British intelligence stated that the damage to the latter was a significant blow to the russian Black Sea Fleet. "Weighing 3,600 tonnes and 113 metres long, the Gorniak is the largest russian naval vessel to be seriously damaged after the sinking of the Moskva cruiser on 13 April, 2022.
