Andrzej Duda: Ukraine does not have enough weapons to change the course of the war

Ukraine has not yet received enough weapons from its allies to turn the tide of the war in its favor. This was stated by Polish President Andrzej Duda in an interview with The Washington Post. In this regard, he called on Western countries to do more to help Kyiv win.

In response to the question of what weapons the Ukrainian Armed Forces lack, Duda said that "Ukraine has been supplied with long-range artillery, and it is being supplied with long-range artillery to this day."

"One could go as far as to say that Ukraine now has much more modern military capabilities than russia," the Polish president continued.

"The question is: Does Ukraine have enough weapons to change the balance of the war and get the upper hand? And the answer is probably no. They probably do not have enough weapons. And we know this by the fact that they’re not currently able to carry out a very decisive counteroffensive against the russian military. To make a long story short, they need more assistance," said Andrzej Duda.

If russia's aggression is not stopped now, "a very high price will have to be paid," Duda emphasized.

putin and his cronies "dream of tsarist power and the restoration of the territory of the tsarist era." The West must put an end to russia's offensive in Ukraine, "so that it doesn't happen like during the First and Second World Wars, when American soldiers had to shed their blood and die in Europe to restore peace and freedom in the world."

There is obvious war fatigue in Poland, although the vast majority of the country's residents are still happy to welcome Ukrainians.

"In Poland, there are families who have been hosting Ukrainians in their homes for a year and a half and sharing living space with them," Duda said.

However, Poles help Ukrainians because they understand the threat of russia. "We know that when russians come, they rape women, they kill people, they deport people to the East. We know that the russians must be stopped," the Polish president said.

Duda said that he would try to convince the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden to officially invite Ukraine to join NATO at the next summit in Washington, which will take place during the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the alliance.

"I believe russia will not be able to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine. And not only because vladimir putin will not want to use it. I believe that the nuclear arsenal in russia is controlled by many people, so it does not depend on putin alone. More than one person makes the decision," Duda said.

Background. In July, it was reported that Poland had secretly transferred about ten Mi-24 helicopters to Ukraine.
