lukashenko recognizes that russian troops invaded Ukraine from the territory of belarus
Although evidence of fighting and troop movements through the territory of belarus appeared from the first days of the invasion

belarusian dictator alexander lukashenko has announced that russian army units have invaded Ukraine through the belarusian border. During an interview with Ukrainian journalist Diana Panchenko, Lukashenko said that russian troops had crossed the border near the Chernobyl zone.
"Yes, some units [of the russian Armed Forces] crossed the border of Ukraine from the territory of belarus. <...> Why russian troops crossed the border of belarus and Ukraine near the Chornobyl region – ask Zelensky," lukashenko said.
The question of belarus' involvement in the actions of the russian military in Ukraine has been raised since the beginning of the invasion. Since the first days of the war, evidence has emerged that the russian army was fighting from the territory of belarus. Evidence of fighting and troop movements through the territory of belarus emerged from the first days of the invasion.
lukashenko denied that belarus was involved in the hostilities and emphasised that the belarusian military was not taking an active role in the kremlin's operation.
"I read this: "At about five in the morning, the state border of Ukraine on the section of russia and belarus was attacked by russian troops supported by belarus. The bastards are the most extreme! Our troops are not involved in this operation," lukashenko pointed out. In October 2022, he said that belarus was participating in a "special military operation in Ukraine," but without striking or attacking the armed forces.
In July 2022, the belarusian dictator acknowledged that the russian military was launching missile strikes against Ukraine from his country. He said that "not a single russian soldier has come to belarus" without his permission. "Therefore, all of them are here with my consent. This is the function of the president. Not a single serviceman – intelligence, counterintelligence, and others – can be here without my knowledge," he assured.
