Klymenko: Rescue and search operation in Chernihiv finished, number of casualties rises to 136

The search and rescue operation following the russian missile strike in Chernihiv has been completed, reported Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko.

"136 people were affected due to the russian strike on the central part of the city. 7 died. 129 were injured, of which 15 were children and 15 – police officers," Klymenko wrote on his Telegram channel.

As reported earlier, russian occupiers targeted the drama theatre in the centre of Chernihiv on Saturday morning. The missile impact led to the roof of the theatre collapsing, followed by a subsequent fire.

Previously, there were reports of 110 injured and 7 deceased.

Moreover, it is now known that the enemy missile completely destroyed the architectural monument of local significance, the Chernihiv Regional Music and Drama Theater named after T. Shevchenko.

Additionally, the Piatnytska Church, an architectural monument of national significance and part of the National Architectural and Historical Reserve Ancient Chernihiv, suffered damage, as informed by Ukraine's Ministry of Culture and Information Policy.

Background. It is worth noting that russian propagandists claimed they targeted Chernihiv city centre due to a drone festival. In their view, it was a gathering place for Ukrainian Armed Forces specialists in combat drones.
