Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan plans to personally discuss the resumption of the grain deal with russian dictator vladimir putin in September, if the opportunity arises.
Source. This was reported by Anadolu Agency.
"The G20 meeting will be held in India in September. A meeting of the UN General Assembly is scheduled in the United States. We will discuss the agreement with putin if there is such an opportunity due to the tight schedule," Erdogan told reporters who accompanied him on board the plane after his visit to Budapest.
It has not yet been announced where the meeting will take place.
The Turkish president also commented on the passage of the first ship through the Black Sea since russia withdrew from the agreement on the export of Ukrainian grain.
"This ship, which left Ukraine, from Odesa, is not a grain carrier, it is a container ship. Our Ministry of National Defence made a statement to this effect. Our main goal here is to achieve a positive position of russia on the grain corridor through phone conversations with Mr. putin," Erdogan said.
He also announced a visit of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to russia in the near future.
Background. Earlier, Bild wrote that russia is preparing an alternative grain deal with Turkey and Qatar in an attempt to push Ukraine out of world markets.
