The final declaration of the G20 summit does not mention Russian aggression in Ukraine

The G20 leaders did not condemn Russia's invasion of Ukraine because of the position of Moscow and Beijing. Instead, they called on both sides of the conflict to adhere to the principles of the United Nations, the BBC reports.

In the final text, the paragraph on the war in Ukraine does not mention Russia at all.

The text also uses a roundabout wording that critics say Moscow could use in the future to justify its hold on the occupied Ukrainian territory.

"All states must act in full conformity with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. According to the UN Charter, all states must refrain from the threat or use of force to achieve territorial acquisition in violation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty or political independence of any state. The use or threat of use of nuclear weapons is unacceptable," the declaration says.

In the part of the declaration devoted to the grain deal, the G20 calls for the unimpeded export of grain and other products from Russian and Ukrainian ports. This part calls for an end to the strikes and destruction of port infrastructure that affect food and energy security.

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Nikolenko commented on the G20 declaration.

"Ukraine is grateful to the partners who tried to include strong wording in the text. At the same time, the G20 has nothing to be proud of in terms of Russia's aggression against Ukraine. Obviously, the participation of the Ukrainian side would have allowed the participants to better understand the situation. The principle of "nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine" remains as key as ever," he said.

Neither Russian dictator Putin nor Chinese President Xi Jinping came to the summit in Delhi. russia and China are represented at the summit by their foreign ministers.

Background. As reported, Erdogan wants to convince G20 leaders to agree to Russia's demands to restore the grain deal.
