Olaf Scholz postpones delivery of Taurus long-range missiles to Kyiv
Germany's coalition government has approved the delivery of Taurus in principle, but Chancellor Olaf Scholz has slowed down the move

Germany is postponing the delivery of Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine due to fears of a direct confrontation with Russia.
Source. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal.
The reason for the fears is that Germany will need to send specialists to Ukraine to help with the operation and maintenance of these rather complex missile systems.
This, according to Berlin, could lead Russia to a direct confrontation with Germany.
Taurus is the German version of the Storm Shadow and Scalp missiles that the UK and France have already sent to Ukraine.
These missiles would help Ukraine replenish its stockpile of long-range missiles, which is already depleted. Ukraine uses them for precision strikes on railroad tracks, ammunition depots and command centers deep in Russian-controlled territory, the WSJ reports.
German authorities say that the three-party coalition government has approved the delivery of Taurus in principle, but Chancellor Olaf Scholz has slowed down the move.
Background. Earlier it was reported that German MPs demanded that Scholz provide Ukraine with Taurus missiles. They emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces needed the missiles to weaken Russian military logistics.
