UN: at least 1028 civilians killed in Ukraine between February 1 and July 31
Most of the victims were the result of attacks carried out by the Russian Federation, the UN recognized

The head of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, Danielle Belle, said that from February 1 to July 31 this year, at least 1028 civilians were killed and 3593 people were injured in the country as a result of hostilities.
"That is, on average, almost six civilians were killed and 20 injured every day. The majority of the casualties, 86 percent, occurred in government-controlled territory and are therefore likely to have been the result of attacks carried out by the Russian Federation," said Danielle Belle on Wednesday at the presentation of the report on the human rights situation in Ukraine.
The report shows that explosive weapons with a large area of impact caused more than 90% of the casualties.
A significant number of civilian casualties were recorded as a result of the use of multiple launch rocket systems. Cluster munitions also caused civilian casualties in government-controlled territory, the report emphasizes.
Background. Earlier, the UN Commission recognized that the rhetoric of the Russian media has signs of incitement to genocide.
