Putin comments on Hamas' attack on Israel for the first time: "Palestine must be independent"
He called the new outbreak of this war "a vivid example of the failure of US policy"

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin believes that the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is due to the failure of US policy in the Middle East, as Washington was not "concerned about finding compromises for both sides."
He said this at a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani, Medusa reports.

"I think many people will agree with me that this is a vivid example of the failure of the United States' policy in the Middle East, which tried to monopolize the settlement. But unfortunately, they were not concerned with finding compromises for both sides, but rather promoted their own ideas about how it should be done, put pressure on both sides," Putin said, commenting for the first time on the Hamas attack on Israel and the Israeli army's retaliatory strikes on the Gaza Strip.
According to Putin, the United States did not take into account the "fundamental interests of the Palestinian people."
"I am referring, first of all, to the need to implement the UN Security Council's decisions on the creation of an independent sovereign Palestinian state," he said. He did not specify which decisions he was referring to.
The dictator, who orders the bombing of peaceful Ukrainian cities, said that the Russian position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is that "damage to the civilian population should be minimized and reduced to zero" and he "calls on all conflicting parties to do so."
On the morning of October 7, Hamas militants attacked Israel. They fired more than 2,200 rockets and broke through to the border areas, engaging the Israeli military. In response, the Israeli army began to launch massive strikes on the Gaza Strip.
As of the morning of October 10, the Israeli authorities reported 900 dead and 2400 wounded as a result of the Hamas attack. The Palestinian side said that 700 people were killed and 3,800 wounded as a result of Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip.
Background. Hamas reportedly calls on Arabs in other countries to join the war with Israel in an effort to kill as many Israelis as possible.
