The United Kingdom has announced that it will provide Ukraine with the latest MSI-DS Terrahawk Paladin air defense system. It is this system that can help the Armed Forces of Ukraine solve the problem of Iranian Shahed drones, which Russia is massively launching in Ukraine.

At a regular meeting of the group of Ukraine's allies in the Ramstein format on October 11, British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps announced a new military aid package worth $123 million to Ukraine.
For the first time, it will include the Terrahawk Paladin short-range air defense system. This is a state-of-the-art development that will be used for the first time in combat conditions in Ukraine and will help protect Ukrainian infrastructure ahead of winter. Shapps emphasized that this is exactly what President Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked for.
"The President of Ukraine said that air defense is Ukraine's most important need, and the Terrahawk Paladin will help provide what Ukraine needs to protect its citizens from Putin's indiscriminate campaign of missile attacks on civilian targets," the UK government said in a statement.
The Terrahawk Paladin is a modular air defense system for destroying air targets. It is a development of the British company MSI-Defense Systems (MSI-DS), which has more than 100 years of history and is a world leader.
The Terrahawk Paladin can be deployed as a single system for point defense or as part of a network in an air defense system to defend a larger area.
The developer says that the system can use missile weapons and laser guidance c-UAS (Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems) to destroy drones.
It also has a target tracking function using artificial intelligence (AI).
The Terrahawk Paladin has 4 own radars on one mast, a SATOS optical sighting station with a thermal imager and a laser rangefinder. The fire control system supports auto-tracking of the target.
The anti-aircraft gun is controlled remotely by the operator using remote controls.
In fact, the British Terrahawk Paladin is an improved version of the solution that Ukraine has been using most widely to fight Russian "shaheds".
We are talking about the so-called "Shahedi catchers". These are mobile groups of Ukrainian soldiers traveling in specially equipped pickup trucks with a turret-mounted machine gun in the back.
Their task is to detect and destroy drones in the sky.
