Moldova blocks access to Russian propaganda media websites
The order for immediate implementation was sent to Moldovan providers

Moldova's Security and Information Service (SIS) has blocked 22 Russian media websites. Most of them are state-controlled propaganda outlets.
The websites of Russia 1, Russia 24, Channel One, NTV, TVC, Zvezda, Ren TV, Mir, Channel Five, Moscow 24, 360, Spas, and Tsargrad were blocked. Similar measures were taken against the resources of RT, Mayak Radio, Vesti FM, and the Smozhem online platform.
The order of the head of the SIS, Aleksander Mustiate, states that by law, the authorities can block resources that disseminate "information coming from the state authorities of a state that is in a military conflict and is recognized as an aggressor state."
The order for immediate implementation was sent to Moldovan providers.
The republic is under a state of emergency declared in connection with Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The SIS emphasized that a number of Russian media outlets "changed the content of information disseminated in the public domain in the context of the state of emergency."
In the spring, Moldova blocked five websites of the Sputnik news agency, accusing it of replicating fakes. Before that, the authorities had already taken similar measures against the same media outlet, but then Sputnik created new portals.
In mid-September, the head of Sputnik Moldova, Vitalie Denisov, was detained in Chisinau. He was later deported and banned from entering Moldova for 10 years "as a person who poses a threat to national security."
Later, Radio Liberty found out that Denisov is a career officer of the 72nd Special Service Center (military unit 54777), which is engaged in information injection and disinformation of foreign audiences in favor of the GRU.
