Erdogan cancels trip to Israel and calls Hamas militants liberators
Israel reacts to Turkish president's statements

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he was canceling plans to visit Israel because of its "inhumane" war against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip.
Source. This was reported by the BBC.
Erdogan called for an immediate ceasefire and said that Israel "may consider Hamas a terrorist organization along with the West," but Turkey has a different opinion.
"Hamas is not a terrorist organization, it is a group of mujahideen defending their land," he said to the applause of members of the Turkish parliament, "We had a project to go to Israel, but it was canceled, we will not go.
According to him, Western countries should stop adding fuel to the fire by supporting Israel, and Muslim countries should work together to achieve a ceasefire and lasting peace in the region.
Erdogan also said that the Rafah border crossing should remain open for the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on the words of the Turkish president, who called Hamas "liberators."
"Israel completely rejects the Turkish President's harsh words about the Hamas terrorist organization," Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Lior Hayat tweeted, "Hamas is a disgusting terrorist organization, even worse than ISIS. It brutally and deliberately kills babies, children, women and the elderly, takes civilians hostage and uses its own people as human shields."
"Even the Turkish president's attempt to defend the terrorist organization and his incendiary statements will not change the horror that the whole world has witnessed and the indisputable fact: Hamas = ISIS," said Lior Hayat, spokesman for the Israeli Foreign Ministry.
Background. As a reminder, Israel is demanding the resignation of the UN Secretary General after his words about the war in the Gaza Strip.
