Umerov appoints "experienced manager" Arsen Zhumadilov in charge of food for the Armed Forces
Procurement is scheduled for December, and first deliveries are expected in the second quarter of 2024

On October 30, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov signed a contract and a decree appointing Arsen Zhumadilov as the Director General of the State Operator of the Logistics, which will provide food to the Armed Forces.
Source. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine with reference to Deputy Minister Dmytro Klimenkov.
"Zhumadilov passed all the necessary checks and officially took office. The first area in which the State Logistics Operator will provide the Armed Forces is food. Procurement is scheduled for December. The first deliveries are expected in the second quarter of 2024," the Ministry of Defense press service said.
For the State Logistics Operator to start its full operation, the Cabinet of Ministers needs to support two resolutions proposed by the Defense Ministry.
"As for one resolution, we are already expecting a positive decision. I expect the second resolution to be adopted by November 15. And then the State Logistics Operator will be 100% operational," Klimenkov said during a briefing at the Military Media Center on Wednesday.
The ministry notes that food for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is temporarily purchased under the new rules, which will be in effect for a transitional period until the State Logistics Operator takes over all responsibilities for meeting the needs of the Armed Forces.
Background. Earlier, journalists conducted an investigation and found that suppliers of food for the army sell it to the Ministry of Defense at two to three times the price they buy it for.
