New US aid package for Ukraine may include anti-drone weapons
The package is not expected to include additional ATACMS missiles

The United States may announce a new $425 million military aid package for Ukraine tomorrow, Reuters reports. "It is expected that the package will not include additional ATACMS missiles," the report said.
According to a document seen by the agency, the new aid package to Ukraine includes laser-guided munitions to destroy Russian drones worth about $300 million. The funds for this ammunition come from the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) program, which provides for the purchase of weapons from manufacturers rather than transferring them from US Army warehouses.
The remaining $125 million worth of weapons includes additional ammunition for NASAMS and HIMARS systems, 105- and 155-mm artillery shells, TOW anti-tank missiles, Claymore anti-personnel mines, and small arms.
It is noted that for now, the United States can finance assistance to Ukraine, as the Pentagon still has approximately $5.4 billion in reserves due to the reassessment of the value of the US assistance already provided.
The issue of future financial assistance is currently being discussed with the US Congress. Earlier, U.S. President Joe Biden submitted a request to Congress to allocate $106 billion at once, of which more than half would go to Ukraine, and the rest to Israel, Taiwan, and border security with Mexico. However, the Republican majority in the House of Representatives believes that it is necessary to split military aid to Israel and Ukraine and to provide money to Israel immediately, but at the expense of other spending cuts. On Monday, the Republicans introduced a proposal to urgently allocate money for military aid to Israel alone.
The new House spokesman, Mike Johnson, said he would like to allocate emergency aid to Israel first and discuss Ukraine separately. When Johnson was just a member of parliament, he voted against military aid to Ukraine.
