Lithuania hands over NASAMS missile launchers to Ukraine

Lithuania has handed over NASAMS missile launchers to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Source. This was reported by Interfax-Ukraine.

"The NASAMS missile launch systems purchased by Lithuania will be integrated into the units of the Ukrainian army, thereby complementing and expanding the operational capabilities of the NASAMS systems transferred by Norway and the United States," said Lithuanian Minister of National Defense Arvydas Anušauskas.

Anusauskas announced the transfer of two NASAMS launchers a month ago at a meeting in the Ramstein format.

The NASAMS (Norwegian Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System) medium-range mobile anti-aircraft missile system is designed to engage air targets at low and medium altitudes in all weather conditions.

The system was developed by the Norwegian firm Norwegian Kongsberg companies in cooperation with the American firm Raytheon Company System.

The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense reported that along with NASAMS launchers, the country also provided Ukraine with vehicles needed by NASAMS crews.

The Norwegian Ministry of Defense additionally donated auxiliary equipment for NASAMS missile launch systems and fire control centers.

The total value of Lithuania's military assistance to Ukraine is about 500 million euros.

Background. Earlier, the Lithuanian Foreign Minister emphasized that the peace agreement is just a time for Russia to rearm.
