From now on, monuments to Pushkin can be officially demolished - government decision
Government authorizes dismantling of monuments to Pushkin, Shchors and other Russian and Soviet figures

Today, on November 10, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to remove monuments to the Russian writer Pushkin, Bolshevik leader Shchors, and other Russian and Soviet figures from the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Cultural Heritage of National Significance.
The relevant resolution was initiated and developed by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.

"The liberation of Ukrainian cities and Ukrainian culture from communist, Soviet and Russian-imperial evil continues. Local authorities must finally clear the space of markers of anti-Ukrainian policy – dismantle and move monuments," said acting Minister of Culture and Information Policy Rostyslav Karandeyev.
Thus, the following monuments were removed from the register: a monument to Pushkin on Beresteysky Avenue, a monument to Shchors on Taras Shevchenko Boulevard, the grave of Army General Vatutin in Mariinsky Park, the Zheleznyakov monitor on Elektrykiv Street, and a monument to the crew of the Tarashchanets armored train in the park between Zaslonov and Yaltynska streets in Kyiv.
In addition, monuments to Pushkin in Zhytomyr, Kharkiv and Odesa, Prince Vorontsov in Odesa, Commander Suvorov in Izmail, Admiral Ushakov in Kherson, "Ukraine to the Liberators" in Uzhhorod, and the Memorial Complex to the Fighters of the Revolution in Luhansk.
The government resolution was adopted at the request of the Law of Ukraine "On Condemnation of the Communist and Nazi Totalitarian Regimes in Ukraine and Prohibition of Propaganda of Their Symbols" and "On Condemnation and Prohibition of Propaganda of Russian Imperial Policy in Ukraine and Decolonization of Place Names."
