The agreement provides for a three-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of a certain number of Palestinian women and adolescents from Israeli detention, and an increase in the flow of humanitarian aid to the exclave.
The negotiations are being conducted by mediators from Qatar, which has direct ties to both Hamas and Israel. The United States is also involved. Unlike Hamas, the Israeli side has not yet agreed on the terms of the deal. In addition, it is reported that there is no talk of further releasing hostages from the Gaza Strip.
Currently, the militants are holding more than 240 hostages in the exclave, who were abducted there during a terrorist raid on Israel on October 7. During the raid, 1200 people were killed. Among them are both military and civilians.
On November 12, Hamas announced the termination of negotiations on the release of hostages. The reason was the shelling of the Al-Shifa hospital in the northern part of the Gaza Strip. IDF representatives said that the militants' headquarters was located on its outskirts.
The operation to enter the hospital began on the night of November 15, and is being carried out with the participation of doctors and Arabic speakers. The Israeli military declare their intention not to harm civilians, who are used by the militants as human shields.
