Ukrainian detained in Greece on charges of embezzlement of funds of the Ministry of Defense
The suspect stole UAH 43 million intended for the purchase of military goods

According to the investigation, the suspect, in collusion with others, seized budget funds in the amount of UAH 43 million, which the company received as an advance payment under contracts concluded with the Ministry of Defense for the purchase of military goods in the spring of 2022.
The detention took place at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office.
"Anyone who is tempted by taxpayers' money – do not rely on foreign jurisdictions," said Deputy Minister of Defense Yuriy Dzhyhyr. "We are currently setting up a unit at the Ministry of Defense to monitor, research and respond to risky operations. Our task is to eliminate looters who are trying to profit from the Defense Forces during the war as soon as possible."
The Ministry of Defense has provided the investigation with a full set of materials processed by the MoD Internal Audit Service.
Investigators are now preparing documents to extradite the detainee to the Ukrainian side in order to bring him to justice.
The Ministry of Defense expressed gratitude for the work of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
