Austin assures Zelenskyy of continued US military support for Ukraine at meeting with Zelenskyy

U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin met with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv. The Defense Secretary tweeted (X) that he assured Ukrainians of the United States' continued support.
The conversation between the Pentagon chief and President Zelenskyy focused on the immediate needs of the Ukrainian military, as well as the need for long-term arms supplies.
Lloyd Austin said that the United States, along with its partners and allies, would support the Ukrainian army.
Zelenskyy, for his part, noted the leadership role of the United States in forming an international coalition for defense assistance to Ukraine.
"We are extremely grateful to President Joseph Biden. It is very important for us that the United States is with us. We count on your support and we are proud that you are with us," he emphasized.
The President of Ukraine also emphasized the importance of the visit of the American delegation on the eve of the next meeting in the Ramstein format, the results of which should strengthen Ukraine's position on the battlefield.
With this in mind, he informed in detail about the current situation at the front, strategic goals and priority needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The President emphasized the need to continue uninterrupted supplies of weapons and ammunition by the allies.
The parties also discussed freedom of navigation in the Black Sea and ensuring the functioning of an alternative "grain corridor," the press service of the President of Ukraine reported.
Lloyd Austin's statements sounded particularly important as Ukrainians have recently been concerned about the delay in U.S. aid due to the lack of appropriate decisions by Congress. President Zelenskyy recently spoke of a slowdown in arms deliveries.
