"The Security Department and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have confirmed that 12 Thai hostages have been released. Embassy officials are going to pick them up in an hour," Thai Prime Minister Settha Thavisin tweeted.

Along with the Thais, 13 Israelis, including women and children, were also released, according to Egypt's State Information Service.

The hostages crossed the border with Egypt and headed to the Israeli medical center Shamir.

According to Al Jazeera, the hostages were Thais taken prisoner during the attack on Israel on October 7. Thai authorities clarified that at the time of the attack, there were about 30,000 Thais in Israel, mostly engaged in agricultural work.

Immediately after the hostages were released, humanitarian aid from Egypt began to arrive in the Gaza Strip.

On the morning of November 24, a four-day truce brokered by Qatar began between Israel and Hamas. The agreement provides for the exchange of hostages and Palestinian prisoners, as well as the provision of humanitarian aid and fuel to the Gaza Strip. Hamas is to release several groups of hostages, and Israel is to hand over 150 Palestinian prisoners to the group.
