Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs and Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonite spent 6 hours in a bomb shelter last night because of the attack on Kyiv by Russian "shahed" fighters, so the leaders of the Baltic countries called on their partners to provide Ukraine with more air defense equipment.

"Tonight, or rather, early this morning, we witnessed the largest attack by Russians using drones targeting the capital of Ukraine, the city of Kyiv. I had a reason to stay in the bomb shelter for six hours. And the Lithuanian Prime Minister was right next to me. The planned bilateral meeting did not take place (because of the attack), but we still met," Rinkevics said at the Grain from Ukraine press conference in Kyiv on Saturday.

As he stated, "the UAV attack on Kyiv was defeated because Ukrainian air defense is doing its job."

"But one message is absolutely clear. We must do everything we can to provide Ukraine with a large number of air defense systems, a large number of ammunition and military equipment. This is not only to help Ukraine on the battlefield, but also to protect civilians," the Latvian leader said.

He also said that he and his colleagues would promote this message at various meetings. "Either in the EU format, or in the NATO format, or with our strategic partners," Rinkēvičs said.

It was also reported that British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps commented on the massive drone attack on Ukraine on Twitter and said that his country should "firmly support Ukraine."

"Today's callous attack on Kyiv shows that Putin's illegal war in Ukraine continues. The reverberations of these explosions reverberate around the world as a reminder that we will never accept Russia's invasion of Ukraine," Grant Shapps said in a post.

As reported, on the night of November 25, Russia launched 75 drones across Ukraine, most of which fell on Kyiv. The Ukrainian Air Force destroyed 74 of them.
