Assistant Secretary of State assures that America is not pushing Ukraine to negotiate with Moscow
During the meeting of foreign ministers in Brussels, Blinken will confirm readiness to continue supporting Ukraine, the State Department said

US Assistant Secretary of State James O'Brien promised reporters that Secretary of State Anthony Blinken would reaffirm his readiness to continue supporting Ukraine in its war with Russia during a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels, BBC reports.
The war between Israel and Hamas and rising tensions in the Middle East have raised concerns that Washington will no longer be able to support Ukraine as it did at the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion.
"This is part of the process of finding Ukraine's place in the alliance that we have always said is its future," he said.
O'Brien said that the Biden administration is confident that continued military assistance to Ukraine has the support of both parties in the US Congress.
Congress is currently considering a request to increase funding for Ukraine's defense along with military aid to Israel and Taiwan.
Asked about the German newspaper Bild's report that the US and Germany are quietly pushing Kyiv to negotiate with Moscow, O'Brien said that Washington has no such policy.
Background. Earlier, Bild reported that the United States and Germany want to force Kyiv to start negotiations with Russia. To do this, they do not provide Ukraine with enough weapons for offense, but only for defense.
