Iran is buying Russian Su-35 fighters and helicopters
In return, Iran is preparing to provide Russia with modern short-range ballistic missiles

Iran is in the final stages of a deal to supply Russian Su-35 fighter jets and helicopters, Iranian Deputy Defense Minister Mehdi Farahi told Tasnim news agency on Tuesday, amid strengthening military relations between Tehran and Moscow.
Source. Reuters reports.
The Iranian Air Force has only a few dozen strike aircraft, including Russian jets, as well as outdated US models purchased before the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
"Plans have been finalized for the delivery of Su-35 fighters, Mi-28 attack helicopters and Yak-130 jet trainers to the Iranian army's combat units," Farahi said.
The Tasnim report does not provide any confirmation of the deal from Russia.
In 2018, Iran announced that it had begun production of the locally developed Kowsar fighter jet for use in its air force. Military experts believe that the jet is a copy of the F-5, first produced in the United States in the 1960s.
As a reminder, the White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby said that Iran is preparing to provide Russia with modern short-range ballistic missiles. The United States expressed concern about the transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia after the September visit of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to Tehran.
