Finland refused to extradite to Ukraine the militant Petrovsky, who fought on the side of Russia
Instead, the country's authorities will deport him to Russia

The Supreme Court of Finland has refused to extradite one of the leaders of the Russian neo-Nazi sabotage and assault reconnaissance group Rusich, Jan Petrovsky (Voislav Torden), to Ukraine and ordered his release, Helsingin Sanomat reports.
Ukraine accuses 36-year-old Petrovsky, known by the nickname Slavyan, of crimes committed in Donetsk and Luhansk regions in 2014-2015.
Petrovsky was detained on July 20, 2022, at the Helsinki airport before his flight to Nice, after which the Ukrainian authorities sent a request for his extradition to Finland.
The reason for the refusal was the conditions of detention in Ukrainian prisons, which the European Court of Human Rights recognized as violating Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights. According to the court, in case of extradition of Jan Petrovsky to Ukraine, he may suffer humiliation.
According to recent reports, Petrovsky will be deported from Finland to Russia.
Finnish border guards detained neo-Nazi Petrovsky at the exit of Vantaa prison for further deportation.
The Rusich neo-Nazi group took part in the war in Donbas in 2014-2015. Petrovsky became famous for posing in front of the corpses of Ukrainian soldiers.
In September 2022, the group and its leaders Milchakov and Petrovsky were subjected to US sanctions for "extreme cruelty" during the fighting in Kharkiv region last year. According to the US Treasury Department, Milchakov was injured during the first battle near Kharkiv in 2022, after which Petrovsky took over as commander.
