Serbian President Vucic promises to return Kosovo and support Putin if Trump wins the US election
According to a political analyst, Vucic is trying to win over Serbian nationalists to his side on the eve of the election

During a talk show on the Serbian TV channel TV Happy, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that he wants to return Kosovo, is ready to wait for Trump's re-election as president of the United States, and supports Vladimir Putin.
In particular, he said that Serbia should "hold out" until the next presidential election in America, which he assumes will be won by Trump.
Vucic rejoiced at Ukraine's failures on the battlefield and noted that "now everyone understands that they will not be able to defeat Russia militarily, and this will change everything."
He also expressed his opinion on the period of Slobodan Milosevic's rule and emphasized that Serbia could regain Kosovo if it used the strategy of Azerbaijan, which "waited 27 years for special geopolitical conditions" before invading Nagorno-Karabakh.
Vucic accused the West of unleashing the Kosovo war of 1998 and absolved Milosevic of all responsibility for it, and used the war as a justification for Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
At the same time, in other circumstances, Vucic often says that he does not see Serbia outside the EU, and it is also known that the Serbian military industry supplies shells to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
On December 17, early parliamentary elections are to be held in the country, in which Vucic's SNS party will be opposed by the opposition coalition Serbia Against Violence. According to opinion polls, the opposition's chances in this year's elections are higher than ever.
"Serbia is indeed unofficially supplying artillery shells to Ukraine, but this is not mentioned in the Serbian media, opposition or pro-government. Investigative data on this topic is not replicated. But representatives of Western countries, of course, appreciate this fact," said Balkan political analyst Aleksandar Djokic in a commentary to The Insider.
According to him, Vucic is trying to make as many statements as possible before the elections to be held on Sunday that will appeal to a wide range of voters, and they are often not the same as those he makes for Western diplomats.
"Let's be honest, most Serbian voters are nationalists, and when it comes to foreign policy, they like characters like Putin and Trump. And here Vucic seems to be on their side, fighting against the pressure of the West – just a hero of the epic!" the political scientist added.
Background. As reported, on November 1, the Serbian president dissolved the parliament and called early elections. Early general elections and several local elections will be held on December 17.
