U.S. Senate to vote on aid to Ukraine next week
Senators' recess is postponed by a week

Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has announced that a vote on the Joe Biden administration's budget request, which includes $60 billion in spending related to support for Ukraine, will take place next week. The bill also includes aid to Israel and Taiwan.

The Senate was supposed to adjourn for the Christmas break on Friday, but, as American journalists wrote on social media, negotiations between Democrats, Republicans and the administration need more time.
Republican senators, in exchange for support or at least non-interference with assistance to Ukraine, demand a significant tightening of the regime on the border with Mexico to stop the flow of illegal migrants to the United States.
Background. Earlier, Ukrainian MP Oleksandra Ustinova said that the work of the US Congress had been extended for a week – until December 21, so the chances that US lawmakers will have time to pass an aid package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan this year are increasing.
