The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine denied the statement about plans to draft citizens abroad for military service
Currently, there are no mechanisms for conscripting citizens from abroad, the ministry said.

The statement of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov about the plans to conscript citizens who have left the country was misinterpreted by the media.
This was reported by the head of the press and information department of the Ministry of Defense Ilarion Pavlyuk, commenting on the minister's interview with Bild.

According to him, the publication "shifted the emphasis", which led to a misinterpretation of the minister's statement. Umerov "generally told the journalists about recruitment and the need to convey to Ukrainians abroad how important it is for them to join the army," Pavlyuk explained.
According to the head of the Press and Information Department of the Defense Ministry, there are currently no mechanisms for recruiting citizens from abroad to the Armed Forces.
In an interview with Bild, Umerov said that men aged 25 to 60 would have to report to the Armed Forces recruiting stations, but that Ukrainians "want justice for all," so citizens living abroad will also receive calls.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the General Staff proposes to mobilize an additional 450-500 thousand people. He characterized the issue as "extremely sensitive."
