Over the year, Latvia has transferred almost three hundred cars confiscated from drunk drivers to Ukraine
The Latvian tax service is currently preparing documents for the transfer of 34 more cars to Ukraine

Thanks to a special law in force in Latvia, cars confiscated from drunk drivers are being transferred to Ukrainians. Between February and mid-December, 271 cars were transferred to Ukraine in this way. Their total value is almost 1 million euros, and all of them were handed over to the Ukrainian authorities.

The provision on the possibility of transferring cars confiscated from drivers who drove under the influence of alcohol to the Ukrainian authorities was approved by the Latvian parliament on February 16. The cars have been transferred to the Ukrainian government and are intended to serve the entire Ukrainian society, which is suffering from the Russian invasion, the statement said.
Since the entry into force of the above-mentioned provision, the vehicles have been sent to Ukraine in several tranches.
Currently, according to Delfi, the Latvian tax service is preparing documents for the transfer of 34 more cars to Ukraine, which are estimated to cost about 160 thousand euros.
