US confirms that funds to help Ukraine have run out
No new arms packages will be delivered without Congressional approval

National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said that on December 27 last year, Washington allocated the last approved batch of military aid to Ukraine. According to him, if the Congress does not approve a new package of support for Ukraine in the coming weeks, there are no more funds in the budget for this purpose.
At the end of last year, Congress failed to pass a law to provide Ukraine with $61 billion in military aid, as requested by the administration of President Joe Biden.
Republicans, who control the lower house of parliament, insist that the allocation of aid to Ukraine should be made simultaneously with a crackdown on illegal immigration across the country's southern borders.
In response to journalists' questions about aid to Ukraine, Kirby said that the last package for which there is money in the budget was officially approved before the New Year.
"That's it. We need to pass a law on additional funding so that we can provide new security assistance to Ukraine," said Kirby.
He clarified that the aid approved on December 27 could still be delivered to Ukraine for several weeks.
"But after that, without additional funding, we don't have any other magic wallet that we can use to support Ukraine," he said.
On December 27, the United States announced that it was sending $250 million in aid to Kyiv. The package included ammunition for NASAMS and HIMARS systems, 155 mm and 105 mm artillery shells, Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, TOW anti-tank missiles, and Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems.
The leadership of the US Senate reported that the next vote on the allocation of a new military aid package to Ukraine may not take place until early 2024.
