Three suspects arrested in the Netherlands for circumventing sanctions against Russia

Three suspects in the supply of military-use goods to Russia have been arrested in the Netherlands as a result of an international operation involving police forces from five countries, Reuters reports.

The Dutch Fiscal Information and Investigation Service reports that the suspects are men aged 56 and 57 from The Hague and Diemen, respectively, and a 54-year-old resident of The Hague.

The men are suspected of being directors of a Dutch company that, in violation of EU sanctions, supplied technological and laboratory equipment to Russia through a network of companies in Eastern Europe, Reuters reports.

According to the Dutch public broadcaster NOS, they supplied hundreds of thousands of euros worth of banned goods to Russia.

The investigation was jointly conducted by the authorities of the Netherlands, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania and Canada, the European Justice Agency Eurojust reported.

According to the agency, suspects were also questioned in all these countries. No details about them, except for the three arrested in the Netherlands, have been reported.

Background. As a reminder, the United States recently arrested a businessman who supplied microchips to Russia.
