Czech Avast stops selling its antivirus and CCleaner software in Russia
The company stopped selling licenses to Russians in the spring of 2022

Czech Avast, which develops Avast, AVG, Avast Mobile Security, and Avast Free Antivirus antiviruses, as well as CCleaner, a program for cleaning and optimizing operating systems, has closed access to its products from Russia. The first to report user complaints was the comss.ru portal, vc.ru reports.
When trying to run Avast antiviruses on Windows and Android, a message appears saying that the service is "not supported in your country or region."
The CCleaner program reports that it does not work "in your location," but the restriction can be circumvented by using a VPN.
Avast's support website states that "due to export regulations following recent events," the company is unable to provide services to Russian and Belarusian users.
"Our business, which generates about $2.5 million in sales tax annually for the Russian government, will in no way participate in Russia's actions. Therefore, stopping our business is the right thing to do, as we condemn Russia's actions in Ukraine," the company said earlier.
The company stopped selling licenses for its products in Russia and Belarus in March 2022.
